How To measure square footage
When figuring out the area of a square or rectangular room, you need to first find the length and width of the space. If starting from one end of a wall, measure along it until you reach the other side, then add those numbers together and do this again for the width. Next multiply those two numbers together to give yourself an idea about how much floor space there is in that room (or its area), then divide that number by 144 (12 inches x 12 inches) to get the square feet.
